Togo Company & Beneficial Ownership Directory

Company register search for 13,075 Togo companies, plus shareholder, officer and beneficial ownership records sourced directly from official government registries.

Register & Ownership Overview

Togo company register data is filed on the Registre du Commerce et du Crédit Mobilier (RCCM), searchable through the regional rccm.ohada.org portal and the Tribunal de Commerce de Lomé, under the OHADA Uniform Act on Commercial Companies. None is publicly searchable: beneficial-ownership obligations exist under the same OHADA framework and Togo's national anti-money-laundering rules, aligned with regional GIABA and FATF standards, but the resulting data is held by the financial intelligence unit, CENTIF, rather than published. A commonly cited 25% threshold could not be confirmed against a specific Togolese statute.

Analysis

What this data actually tells you about Togo

Togo’s economy grew strongly in the mid-2020s, expanding by an estimated 6.3% in 2025, with GDP surpassing CFA 5.6 trillion francs for the first time. The World Bank’s Macro Poverty Outlook projects real GDP growth moderating to around 5.0-5.9% through 2025-2026 as fiscal consolidation continues. Nominal GDP was approximately $10.6 billion in 2024, with GDP per capita around $1,266 — Togo remains a low-income country by World Bank classification. Inflation, which had spiked to 5.3% in 2023 amid regional food and energy pressures, eased sharply to 2.9% in 2024 and then to just 0.4% in 2025, its lowest level in three years, though housing, water, electricity and gas costs still rose 9.4% year-on-year even as food prices fell. Togo’s currency is the CFA franc (XOF), pegged to the euro at a fixed rate (1 EUR = 655.957 XOF) under the guarantee of the French Treasury, shared with the other seven UEMOA member states; the currency weakened 14.4% against the US dollar between end-2014 and end-2024. Structurally, the economy rests on three pillars: the deep-water Port of Lomé, one of West Africa’s few natural deep-water ports and a major regional transshipment hub; phosphate mining, historically the country’s signature export commodity; and smallholder agriculture that still employs an estimated 50-60% of the workforce while contributing roughly 20-25% of GDP. Counterparties verify a specific counterparty’s current growth and inflation exposure directly.

Togo’s principal exports are phosphates and phosphate-derived products, cotton, and, increasingly, cement and clinker, as the country has become a significant regional building-materials exporter following major investment by HeidelbergCement/Heidelberg Materials (via its Scantogo and Cimtogo subsidiaries) and India’s WACEM group. Coffee and cocoa exports jumped roughly 50% in the 2024-2025 marketing season versus the prior year, reaching about 4,400 tonnes of coffee and 24,000 tonnes of cocoa. The Port of Lomé is the centerpiece of Togo’s trade economy: it handled 30.64 million tonnes of total cargo in 2024 and 2.06 million TEUs of container traffic, an 8% year-on-year increase, making it the only Sub-Saharan African port in Lloyd’s List’s global Top 100 port ranking (92nd place). Transshipment volumes rose 7.11% to 20.23 million tonnes in 2024, underscoring the port’s role as a hub for landlocked Sahel neighbors (Mali, Niger, Burkina Faso). Togo is a member of ECOWAS, UEMOA, and has ratified the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) since 2019. Togo’s industrial free zone had drawn cumulative investment of $741.3 million (CFA 425.7 billion) by end-2024, about 7% of GDP, supporting roughly 19,000 direct jobs across 91 active companies. Counterparties verify a specific counterparty’s current free-zone status and port-corridor exposure directly.

Togo’s resident population was recorded at 8,095,498 in the 2022 census, with commonly cited 2025 projections putting the population near 9.4-9.5 million. The labor force stood at roughly 3.34 million in 2024 with a participation rate of about 58%; agriculture remains the largest employer (50-60% of workers) even as services now generate the largest GDP share (50-55%). On March 25, 2024, Togo’s National Assembly adopted a new constitution converting the country from a presidential to a parliamentary system; President Faure Gnassingbé promulgated it on May 6, 2024. Under the new system the directly-elected presidency becomes a largely ceremonial role chosen by parliament, while executive authority shifts to a “President of the Council of Ministers” — a post with no term limit, to which Gnassingbé was installed in May 2025. The Gnassingbé family has now led Togo continuously since Gnassingbé Eyadéma (Faure’s father) seized power in a January 13, 1967 military coup and ruled until his death in 2005, when Faure Gnassingbé succeeded him — a combined father-son tenure of roughly 58 years. Togo’s political opposition labeled the 2024 reform a “constitutional coup” and called for protests beginning in March 2024; larger demonstrations recurred in June-December 2025 (the “2025 Togolese Gen Z protests”), with reports of at least several deaths amid clashes with security forces, and the ECOWAS Court of Justice ruling the reform an “unconstitutional change of government.” Counterparties verify a specific counterparty’s current political-transition and institutional-authority exposure directly rather than assume the pre-2024 system still applies.

From Togo’s national statistics institute (INSEED), first General Census of Enterprises (Recensement Général des Entreprises, RGE-1), conducted 2017-2018: of 115,880 enterprises counted nationwide, 85.5% were informal and roughly 14-14.5% formal. This is an informal/formal split rather than an SME-versus-large-enterprise breakdown by employee count — a true size-tier breakdown was not found in public sources. A second census (RGE-2) launched in February/March 2025 is expected to update these figures with a size breakdown, but its detailed results had not been published as of this research. A foreign-ownership share figure is deliberately omitted: no genuine, dated statistic on the share of foreign-owned companies was found; only FDI-flow data (+27.3% in 2025 to $2.063 billion) and free-zone investment stock ($741.3 million cumulative by end-2024) exist, neither of which is a share-of-companies statistic. Who uses Togo ownership data

The three checks this page's data is most often run for.

🧾

KYB onboarding

Verifying a Togo counterparty means confirming the beneficial owner behind the entity and evidencing where that answer came from, not just pulling the registered name.

🛡️

AML and sanctions screening

Sanctions exposure often sits above the operating company, in a holding layer registered elsewhere. Screening the local entity alone will not surface it; screening the resolved ownership chain will.

📈

Supplier and credit risk

Filed accounts cover a limited share of the register in most jurisdictions, so group membership is often a better solvency signal than a standalone balance sheet.
