Eswatini Company & Beneficial Ownership Directory

Company register search for 3,075 Eswatini companies, plus shareholder, officer and beneficial ownership records sourced directly from official government registries.

Register & Ownership Overview

Eswatini company register data is held under the Companies Act, 2009, by the Company and Intellectual Property Authority (CIPA), which replaced the former Registrar of Companies in 2013. Basic entity name searches are public through the CIPA portal, though full access to the register of members is not confirmed in verifiable form. None could be confirmed as operational: anti-money-laundering rules reference beneficial-ownership identification, but no dedicated, publicly searchable UBO register, ownership threshold, or specific enabling statute is documented from official sources. Ownership beyond the basic CIPA entity record cannot currently be checked against any confirmed central database.

Analysis

What this data actually tells you about Eswatini

Eswatini (formerly Swaziland) is a small, landlocked kingdom in Southern Africa, enclaved largely within South Africa and bordering Mozambique to the east. It is Africa’s last absolute monarchy, ruled by King Mswati III since 1986, who holds ultimate executive authority. The economy uses the lilangeni (plural: emalangeni, ISO code SZL), pegged 1:1 to the South African rand and fully interchangeable with it under the Common Monetary Area (CMA) arrangement. GDP per capita stood at an estimated $4,305 in 2025 (World Bank), and real GDP growth was estimated at 4% in 2025, up from 3% in 2024, driven by manufacturing and services activity — though the African Development Bank’s own estimate puts 2025 growth at 4.6%, up from 2.8% in 2024, illustrating some variance between sources. Annual headline inflation slowed markedly year-on-year, from 4.1% in August 2024 to 2.6% in August 2025 (Central Bank of Eswatini). Government debt rose to roughly 44% of GDP in 2025 and the budget deficit widened sharply to an estimated 6.3% of GDP (more than double the 3.1% planned). The economy’s structural anchors are sugar — historically the dominant export — and a large soft-drink-concentrate manufacturing industry: Eswatini hosts what is described as one of the largest Coca-Cola concentrate plants in Africa (Conco, at Mahlanya near Matsapha), supplying bottlers across more than 20 African countries since 1987.

Eswatini is a member of the Southern African Customs Union (SACU) and the Common Monetary Area (CMA), and is heavily economically dependent on South Africa, which is both its dominant trading partner and the source of the bulk of its electricity imports. SACU revenue-sharing is a major and historically volatile input to Eswatini’s fiscal revenue. Sugar remains a top export earner: the sugar industry generated E8 billion in revenue in the 2025/26 financial year, up from E7.7 billion the year before, with sugar sales rising to 647,572 tonnes from 591,986 tonnes; SACU absorbed 63% of raw sugar exports and 85% of refined sugar exports in marketing year 2024/25, with most going to South Africa. The Royal Eswatini Sugar Corporation (RES Corp) and Illovo-affiliated Ubombo Sugar Limited are the two dominant millers. In 2024 Eswatini exported about 5% of its sugar to the US under a base AGOA quota of 17,213 metric tons plus an additional 8,800-tonne allocation. The US government extended Eswatini’s AGOA eligibility, pushing the prior December 2026 expiry out to December 31, 2028, covering roughly 39 Eswatini companies trading under AGOA preferences. Inbound FDI has been volatile: FDI inflows fell sharply to about E810 million (~$45 million) in 2025 from E2.41 billion (~$134 million) in 2024, even as Eswatini’s cumulative inward FDI stock rose from about $1.044 billion (2024) to $1.175 billion (2025) (UNCTAD World Investment Report).

Eswatini’s population is approximately 1.1–1.2 million, with roughly 25% urbanized, concentrated in Mbabane and Manzini. The country has historically had the world’s highest HIV prevalence: over 27% of the total population is HIV-positive (UNAIDS). Eswatini was the first African country to reach the UNAIDS 95-95-95 targets, achieving 94-97-96 as of the most recent reporting; new infections fell from about 14,000 in 2010 to a projected 4,300 in 2023. Unemployment remains very high and estimates vary: the IMF cites overall unemployment around 34% with youth unemployment at 58% (2023 data), while other trackers put the rate between roughly 22% and 38% depending on definition and year. Politically, Eswatini remains governed under the Tinkhundla system, in which political parties are legally barred from contesting elections; parliamentary elections were last held in September 2023, after which King Mswati III appointed Russell Mmiso Dlamini as Prime Minister. The country experienced a wave of pro-democracy protests beginning in 2021 calling for political reform, and rights organizations have continued to document restrictions on political and civic activity into 2024–2025, including the June 2024 sentencing of former opposition MPs Mduduzi Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube to 25 and 18 years respectively on terrorism-related and murder convictions that Amnesty International and other observers characterized as flawed. Counterparties verify a specific counterparty’s current exposure to South African trade dependency and SACU revenue-sharing directly.

Who uses Eswatini ownership data

The three checks this page's data is most often run for.

🧾

KYB onboarding

Verifying a Eswatini counterparty means confirming the beneficial owner behind the entity and evidencing where that answer came from, not just pulling the registered name.

🛡️

AML and sanctions screening

Sanctions exposure often sits above the operating company, in a holding layer registered elsewhere. Screening the local entity alone will not surface it; screening the resolved ownership chain will.

📈

Supplier and credit risk

Filed accounts cover a limited share of the register in most jurisdictions, so group membership is often a better solvency signal than a standalone balance sheet.
