Register & Ownership Overview

Oman company register data is filed through the Commercial Register, administered by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion (MOCIIP) via the Oman Business Platform at tejarah.gov.om. Beneficial ownership has its own register, mandated by Ministerial Decision No. 424 of 2023, with registration required through the same platform since December 2025 for all private companies except public joint-stock companies (SAOG), at a 25% ownership or control threshold. Its access basis is not confirmed in verifiable form. Entity identity is verifiable at source through the Commercial Register; beneficial ownership above 25% has to be confirmed directly through MOCIIP.

Analysis

What this data actually tells you about Oman

Oman is a hereditary sultanate ruled by Sultan Haitham bin Tariq since January 2020, who in 2021 formalised primogeniture succession by naming his son Theyazin bin Haitham as Crown Prince — a first in modern Omani history, since predecessor Sultan Qaboos left no heir. In January 2026 the Crown Prince was given direct control of economic policy, appointed Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs in a cabinet reshuffle, consolidating the country’s diversification agenda within the royal succession structure itself.

That agenda, Oman Vision 2040, aims to cut oil’s share of GDP from about 30% in 2020 to under 10% by 2040. Non-oil activity reached roughly 72–73% of GDP in 2025, and non-oil GDP grew 3.1% that year to RO 28.7 billion, per National Centre for Statistics and Information data. All three major rating agencies now rate Oman investment-grade — S&P (BBB-, September 2024), Moody’s (Baa3, July 2025) and Fitch (BBB-, 2025/2026) — citing sharply reduced public debt, which fell to around 36% of GDP from nearly 68% five years earlier.

Oil and gas still anchor the budget: 2025 public revenue reached RO 12.122 billion, 8% above budget, with oil and gas revenues of RO 8.481 billion driven by average crude output near 999,000 barrels per day and a realised price around $72 a barrel, per Oman Observer. The state is simultaneously divesting: the Oman Investment Authority has taken five state-controlled businesses public since 2023, including the 2025 Asyad Shipping IPO (Oman’s first maritime-sector listing, raising $333 million), as part of a five-year divestment strategy running through 2029.

Beyond oil, Oman is building out green hydrogen (the Hyport Duqm project, backed by BP and DEME, targets 60,000 tonnes a year of green ammonia in its first phase), mining (targeting a 10% GDP share by 2040, up from 1.4% in 2020) and tourism, which drew a record 4 million visitors in 2025 before international arrivals and hotel revenue both fell by double digits in the first half of 2026 — a reminder that the diversification drive remains uneven across sectors even as its headline economic indicators improve.

Who uses Oman ownership data

The three checks this page's data is most often run for.

🧾

KYB onboarding

Verifying a Oman counterparty means confirming the beneficial owner behind the entity and evidencing where that answer came from, not just pulling the registered name.

🛡️

AML and sanctions screening

Sanctions exposure often sits above the operating company, in a holding layer registered elsewhere. Screening the local entity alone will not surface it; screening the resolved ownership chain will.

📈

Supplier and credit risk

Only 1 Oman entities have digitized accounts on file, so group membership is often a better solvency signal than a standalone balance sheet.
