Largest Cyprus Companies

Company register search for 560,594 Cyprus companies, plus shareholder, officer and beneficial ownership records sourced directly from official government registries.

Register & Ownership Overview

Cyprus company register data is held by the Department of the Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property (DRCIP), under the Companies Law, Cap. 113 — itself modeled directly on the UK system, with each company assigned an "HE number." Basic entity data is free to search; a fuller "Study File" of company documents requires a paid request. Access was suspended on 3 January 2023 following EU Court of Justice rulings, now limited to Cyprus's anti-money-laundering authority MOKAS, police, and obliged entities such as banks and lawyers, at a 25% ownership threshold.

Analysis

What this data actually tells you about Cyprus

Cyprus’s central company register, the Department of the Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property (DRCIP, still referenced by its legacy acronym DRCOR in the e-filing system), sits under the Ministry of Energy, Commerce and Industry and is searchable at efiling.drcor.mcit.gov.cy. Since July 1, 2024, all Registrar filings have moved fully online, with the Companies (Amendment) Law and Decree No. 2 of 2025 formalizing end-to-end digital company administration — name approval, UBO registration, certified-copy requests, and certificates of incorporation or good standing now issue electronically within 24 hours, each bearing a verifiable authenticity code checkable on the Registrar’s site for 90 days; full digital transformation is targeted for August 2026.

Cyprus suspended public access to its beneficial-ownership register on January 3, 2023, following the CJEU’s November 2022 ruling against unrestricted public access, moving to a tiered model for competent authorities, AML-obliged entities, and parties demonstrating a documented legitimate interest. Cyprus is explicitly named among the 11 EU member states against which the European Commission opened infringement proceedings in September 2025 for failing to fully transpose the 6th AML Directive’s access-rules deadline of July 10, 2025, and was separately cited in a July 2026 infringement notice over incomplete transposition of the EU’s criminal-law money-laundering directive. Domestically, Law L.141(I)/2024, effective February 2025, introduced automatic escalating fines for late UBO filings and now requires annual confirmation of UBO data even when nothing has changed.

Foreign-controlled entities

% foreign-controlled

Foreign-controlled enterprises represented less than 1.0% of Cyprus’s enterprise population by entity count in 2023 and accounted for 9% of employment in 2022, per Eurostat’s inward FATS series — both among the lowest such figures in the EU. This stands in sharp contrast to Cyprus’s enormous FDI stock (€365 billion in 2024, more than ten times GDP), which the Central Bank of Cyprus attributes almost entirely to Special Purpose Entities with limited interaction with the domestic economy; stripping out SPEs, net FDI stock was closer to €42.7 billion in 2023 (about 136% of GDP) — still elevated but far more representative of genuine foreign investment in Cyprus’s real economy. Do not treat the headline FDI-stock figure as describing the same thing as the entity-count or employment-share metrics above.

Who uses Cyprus ownership data

The three checks this page's data is most often run for.

🧾

KYB onboarding

Verifying a Cyprus counterparty means confirming the beneficial owner behind the entity and evidencing where that answer came from, not just pulling the registered name.

🛡️

AML and sanctions screening

Sanctions exposure often sits above the operating company, in a holding layer registered elsewhere. Screening the local entity alone will not surface it; screening the resolved ownership chain will.

📈

Supplier and credit risk

Only 33 Cyprus entities have digitized accounts on file, so group membership is often a better solvency signal than a standalone balance sheet.
