Qatar Company & Beneficial Ownership Directory

Company register search for 55,347 Qatar companies, plus shareholder, officer and beneficial ownership records sourced directly from official government registries.

Register & Ownership Overview

Qatar's company register runs through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry's (MoCI) Unified Economic Register, established under Law No. 1 of 2020 to hold both commercial registration and beneficial ownership data in one system. Under Article 7, MoCI shares it only with law enforcement, judicial bodies, auditors, financial institutions, and other AML-obliged entities, at a 20% ownership-or-control threshold. Basic identification details — name, legal structure, and purpose — are published for every economic establishment, legal arrangement, and freelance professional under the law, but that public tier stops well short of ownership data. MoCI verifies the declared beneficial owner directly at registration and renewal, since no registration or amendment has been processed without a beneficial-ownership disclosure since April 2021; resolving the ownership chain above a Qatari entity, however, still requires sources outside the register.

Analysis

What this data actually tells you about Qatar

Qatar’s economy remains one of the wealthiest per capita in the world, underpinned by its position as a top global liquefied natural gas (LNG) exporter. Real GDP growth was 2.4% in 2024 and projected at around 3% for 2025, with growth expected to accelerate toward 6.8% by 2027 as new LNG capacity comes online, per IMF Article IV Consultation estimates. Qatar’s National Planning Council reported real GDP grew 2.9% year-on-year in Q3 2025, with non-hydrocarbon activities expanding 4.4% and accounting for 65.5% of real GDP, meaning hydrocarbons/mining made up roughly 34-35% of GDP in that period. Nominal GDP per capita estimates for 2025 range from about $69,680 to $72,760, reflecting Qatar’s roughly 3.1-3.4 million population. The Qatari riyal has been pegged to the US dollar since June 1980 at QAR 3.64 = $1. Inflation has been low and stable: around 1.1-1.3% in 2024, before ticking up to 2.28% year-on-year in January 2026, the highest since February 2024. Counterparties verify a specific counterparty’s actual current hydrocarbon-versus-non-hydrocarbon revenue exposure directly.

Qatar’s exports remain dominated by hydrocarbons: LNG accounted for 50.4% of total exports, crude oil 23.3%, and refined petroleum oils 13.5% (2024 data). In 2025 Qatar exported mainly to Japan (~19%), South Korea (~15%), India (~13%), the UAE (~12%) and China (~9%), becoming China’s and India’s top LNG supplier that year and the EU’s third-largest LNG supplier behind the US and Russia. Total LNG exports reached 84.7 million tonnes in 2025, the world’s second-largest volume. The North Field expansion, the largest LNG capacity buildout in industry history, aims to raise nameplate capacity from 77 mtpa (2023) to 142 mtpa around 2030, via joint ventures between state firm QatarEnergy (75% stakes) and TotalEnergies, ExxonMobil, Shell, Eni and ConocoPhillips; Train 1 of North Field East achieved first LNG in November 2025. FDI has been comparatively modest and volatile: UNCTAD recorded negative net FDI inflows of about -$474 million for Qatar in 2023. The Qatar Investment Authority is estimated by third parties at roughly $510-557 billion in assets under management as of 2025-2026 (QIA itself does not publish figures). Counterparties verify a specific counterparty’s current JV-stake and investment-incentive eligibility directly rather than assume figures are QIA-confirmed.

Qatar’s population was estimated at roughly 3.14-3.37 million (CIA 2024 estimate: 3,143,491; NPC figure cited March 2026: 3,370,611). Migrant workers form over 91% of Qatar’s population and roughly 94% of the total labor force, per Human Rights Watch’s World Report 2025, with the largest source countries being India (an estimated ~700,000 nationals), Nepal, Bangladesh, the Philippines and Egypt. Since 2018-2021 Qatar has enacted ILO-recognized reforms to its kafala sponsorship system: elimination of exit-permit requirements and no-objection certificates for job changes (October 2019), and adoption in March 2021 of a non-discriminatory minimum wage applying to all workers, sectors and nationalities including domestic workers, the first such policy in the Gulf region. The ILO’s most recent assessments (2023-2025) note that while the most restrictive elements of kafala were formally dismantled, implementation gaps persist: many workers still report difficulty changing employers due to misinformation and employer retaliation, and the ILO lists streamlining access to justice and wage recovery among its continuing priorities. Qatar has actively repurposed its 2022 FIFA World Cup stadiums, hosting the 2023 AFC Asian Cup and 2025 FIFA Arab Cup, and secured hosting rights for the FIFA U17 World Cup (2025-2029) and 2027 FIBA Basketball World Cup. Counterparties verify a specific counterparty’s actual current labor-compliance and kafala-reform-implementation status directly rather than assume either full reform or unreformed conditions.

Who uses Qatar ownership data

The three checks this page's data is most often run for.

🧾

KYB onboarding

Verifying a Qatar counterparty means confirming the beneficial owner behind the entity and evidencing where that answer came from, not just pulling the registered name.

🛡️

AML and sanctions screening

Sanctions exposure often sits above the operating company, in a holding layer registered elsewhere. Screening the local entity alone will not surface it; screening the resolved ownership chain will.

📈

Supplier and credit risk

Only 57 Qatar entities have digitized accounts on file, so group membership is often a better solvency signal than a standalone balance sheet.
