South Sudan Company & Beneficial Ownership Directory

Company register search for 63 South Sudan companies, plus shareholder, officer and beneficial ownership records sourced directly from official government registries.

Register & Ownership Overview

South Sudan company register data is filed with the Business Registry at the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs, through its Directorate of Registration of Businesses, under the Companies Act, 2012. None could be confirmed for companies generally: the Banking Act addresses beneficial ownership specifically for banks, but no equivalent general beneficial-ownership disclosure requirement, ownership threshold, or central register for ordinary companies is documented from public sources. Ownership beyond the Business Registry's basic incorporation record cannot currently be checked against any confirmed UBO database, whether public or restricted.

Analysis

What this data actually tells you about South Sudan

South Sudan, the worldโ€™s youngest country since gaining independence in 2011, has struggled through years of civil conflict and a fragile 2018 peace agreement between President Salva Kiir and First Vice President Riek Machar. That peace has come under severe strain: Machar has been held since March 2025 and has been on trial since September 2025 on charges including treason and crimes against humanity tied to a deadly attack in Nasir, while President Kiir was expected to dissolve the national and state transitional governments on 22 September 2026 under the National Elections Act, ahead of elections scheduled for 22 December 2026 โ€” a vote already postponed five times since 2018.

The economy is overwhelmingly dependent on oil, historically around 90% of exports, exported via pipeline through Sudan. That pipeline was damaged in February 2024 amid Sudanโ€™s civil war, cutting South Sudanโ€™s export volumes sharply before Sudan lifted its force majeure and flows resumed in January 2025. The World Bank estimated the economy contracted roughly 24-30% in the 2024-25 fiscal year as a result, before rebounding an estimated 4% as exports resumed, with growth projected around 22% for 2025-26 as oil production climbs back toward pre-disruption levels โ€” though the economy remains acutely exposed to any renewed disruption in Sudan.

The human cost has been severe: extreme poverty rose from an estimated 84% of the population in 2024 to 87% in 2025, and in 2026 over 10 million people, roughly two-thirds of the population, are projected to need humanitarian assistance, with millions facing crisis-level hunger. The country is also experiencing its largest-ever cholera outbreak, declared in October 2025, alongside displacement crises in Jonglei and other states, and international organisations including MSF report repeated attacks on healthcare facilities amid the ongoing insecurity.

Away from oil and the humanitarian emergency, most economic activity remains informal and concentrated in Juba, the only city with an active property market, sizeable hotel sector and organised wholesale trade. Access to basic infrastructure remains extremely limited nationally โ€” only an estimated 5-7% of the population has electricity access, and access to safe water and sanitation has stagnated or worsened over the past decade โ€” underscoring how much the countryโ€™s formal economy still depends on oil revenue, international aid and a small number of foreign-owned businesses and NGOs.

Who uses South Sudan ownership data

The three checks this page's data is most often run for.

🧾

KYB onboarding

Verifying a South Sudan counterparty means confirming the beneficial owner behind the entity and evidencing where that answer came from, not just pulling the registered name.

🛡️

AML and sanctions screening

Sanctions exposure often sits above the operating company, in a holding layer registered elsewhere. Screening the local entity alone will not surface it; screening the resolved ownership chain will.

📈

Supplier and credit risk

Filed accounts cover a limited share of the register in most jurisdictions, so group membership is often a better solvency signal than a standalone balance sheet.
