A multidistrict litigation over the recall was formed in the US District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania on 8 October 2021. It led to an economic-loss class settlement (7 September 2023) and a US$1.075 billion personal-injury settlement (agreed 9 May 2024, final January 2025). A DOJ criminal and civil investigation opened by a 2022 subpoena was continuing at the end of 2025.
On 1 September 2022 the company separately agreed to pay over US$24 million to settle False Claims Act allegations of kickbacks to durable-medical-equipment suppliers. It also entered a five-year Corporate Integrity Agreement with HHS-OIG, effective 25 August 2022.
